Ariel, also known as Marlene, was an Invid created to infiltrate Scott Bernard's rebel group. Ariel and Bernard would fall in love and she would remain behind on Earth when the rest of the Invid moved on after the end of the Third Robotech War.

In 15 November, 2046, a year after the The The Battle of Reflex Point, Scott had folded back to his birthplace of Tirol with his crew from Earth. There was no gravity and Ariel nearly got hit with floating coffee. After departing the ship, they encounter Scott's friend JC Schletka who knew Meg but was introduced to Sera, Lancer and Ariel. They saw VF-1's and Ariel was impressed and went to Tirol's Monument City which was the planet's main spaceport. While going through Ariel mistook Micronized Zentraedi for Sentinels and was told the Sentinels are not 1 race but an alliance of many who banded together to face the Invid. Most aliens in the town were allied with the Sentinels who had gained the edge against the Invid after Rick and Lisa Hunter joined them with Zentraedi. Scott planned to send an Email to Rand and Lancer wanted to join a card game and was told a few players were reassigned to the Marcus Aurelius 2 (Robotech: The Sentinels: Rubicon: A Sort of Homecoming: Prologue).
As Sean, Scott, Nova, JC and Dana were coming back from a bar to their place, the door was open and Meg and Ariel were in danger and JC, Nova and Scott fought those who broke in. Ariel nailed 1 in the head and the rest fled. One man revealed he's Claude but his friends called him Cloud and Nova recognized him from when he was 7 and was a military brat like Dana. The item Ariel nailed the assailant with had Breetai's Mask in it, but it was actually someone elses mask (Robotech: The Sentinels: Rubicon: Shadows of the Past).
