"Battle Cry" is the sixteenth episode of Robotech: The Macross Saga.
Summary[]
There is unrest in Macross City after they learn that the United Earth Government will not allow them to leave the ship. The Zentraedi launch another attack against the SDF-1 and Rick Hunter is accidentally shot down when he is caught in the crossfire.
Synopsis[]
The Zentradi spies were running low on their own food and attempted to steal some on display. After being reprimanded by the restaurant owner for not knowing the difference between plastic and real food, she realizes that they are desperate and takes them in.
With the return of Lynn Kyle, Minmei has a large event with her friends to celebrate his return. Kyle's words distract Lisa Hayes, who is reminded of her fiance, Karl Riber, and this only serves to fuel her unhappiness regarding her father's part in the Earth council's decision to turn back the SDF-1.
Minmei shows a television clip showing one of her performances. The broadcast is interrupted by an announcement that the civilians are not permitted to leave the ship, causing riots to rip through the city, especially one that threatens the military officers within the restaurant. Despite claims of disliking violence, Lynn Kyle was able to expertly repel his attackers.
Khyron, acting against Azonia's direct order, leads an attack on the SDF-1. When Azonia gives the ultimatum to disengage, Khyron chooses to have the warship attempt a collision. While the ram attempt is repulsed, Rick Hunter is critically injured by the crossfire. Lisa's affections for him grow stronger, and she begins to realize this is more than a mere friendship.
Memorable quotes[]
- Shopkeep: "Don't you know the difference between real food and plastic?!"
- Sammie: (About Lynn Kyle) "Gee! What A Hunk!"
Lisa: "Strange, he reminds me of Karl" - Kyle: "Fighting produces nothing. It only results in devastation and destruction."
Max: "Are you saying that everyone in the miliary likes to destroy things?"
Rick: "Well I didn't join the service because I like devastation and destruction. And I think I'm speaking for everyone at this table." - Minmei:(After Kyle beat up a bunch of guys) "Oh Kyle! I'm so proud of you! Are you ok?"
- Max: "Hay! You're a pretty well trained fighter for somebody who doesn't like to fight!"
- Lisa: "Ohh! You're bleeding! Here! Maybe this Handkerchief will help! Ok?"
Kyle: "Oh don't bother. I really don't want help from any of you people. Thanks anyway." - Khyron: "Keep firing and don't stop until you have destroyed every one of those inferior Micronians!"
- Max: "What about Ben? Did he make it?"
Ben: Hay, I'm not that easy to knock off!" - Azonia: "Well Khyron, it looks as though your plan was slightly less than perfect. In fact, if it had been any less perfect, you'd be dead too! Ahahahaha!"
