Conrad Charles Wilbur was a Dr who lost his wife in the Macross Incident as the building she was in was destroyed by the SDF-1 shockwaves. By 2004 he had become leader of the Faithful, a group attempting to stop the United Earth Government from using the SDF-1 as they believed it to be evil. He was part of a scheme with T. R. Edwards to sabotage the Prototype VF-1 Valkyrie but did not follow through with it as he saw it save people from a burning building as it reminded him of how his wife died.
After their parents died in the Exclusionist Plague in 1995, Rob Leeds and his sister Vanessa were sent to an orphanage in San Francisco. Dr. Wilbur was on the board of directors there and his wife wanted to adopt them, but she died in the Macross Incident. After that, Dr. Wilbur quit his practice and moved to Macross Island with them. As Rob joined The Faithful, Vanessa did not agree with them and the 2 grew apart.
In April of 2005 Wilbur returned to Macross Island to give an interview on Macross Today with Tim Holland but Leonard met with him and told him that since he left, Faithful has splintered and some go against the way Wilbur and Geoff Davies and are going for more violent means to stop their foes. Leonard knows Davies wants Wilber to speak out against violence and if he does, Leonard woul drelease info on Wilburs involvement in the sabotage of a Veritech the previous year. Wilbur denied it but Leonard left him to choose. At the Flyer Diner Wilbur met Roy Fokker and confesses to being behind the sabotage but couldn't go through with it. After that he left Faithful and started a Free Clinic in Gdansk and now he's been threatened and might not live long if he denounces the violence and he wanted someone to know the story. As Wilbur went out, a black mini van drove by and shots him and Roy gave chase on a Motorcycle but lost him. Upon getting back, a GMP officer revealed Wilbur didn't make it.
