"Dark Finale" is the 84th episode of Robotech, and the penultimate episode in Robotech: The New Generation.
Summary[]
As the fight in Reflex Point continues, Scott battles Corg, while Lancer, Marlene and Sera try to convince the Regess to leave Earth before more lives are Lost.
Synopsis[]
Marlene is gone, but the freedom fighters are able to rendezvous at Reflex Point in time to join Admiral Hunter's ground assault force. But there is a major rift forming in the team, and the civilians are not happy to be left behind as the military takes over the assault.
Marlene, having finally accepted her identity as the Invid Princess Ariel after an encounter with the Regess, takes on a new form, nearly transformed into energy, and leads the freedom fighters to the Central Core of the Invid Hive to confront the Regess and attempt to end the annihilation of both Invid and Human in the escalating conflict.
Inside the Hive, Sera attempts to stand by the Regess and repel the invaders, but finds herself unable to raise her weapons against Lancer. With that, Ariel reveals the fault in the Regess' plan to take over the Earth: they are simply committing the same atrocities that the Invid had to endure previously, once from the genocidal Robotech Masters.
As the argument continues, Corg won't be denied the execution of his vendetta. Scott follows him outside the Hive in his Alpha and the fight is joined! For the others remaining in the Hive, the Regess displays the coming fleet of REF ships. "No -- they have come from beyond the stars! The dark tides of shadow have come to engulf us again..."
