The Earth Reclamation Force was a branch of the Robotech Expeditionary Force that was formed after the Invid had conquered the planet Earth. It included the remnants of the RDF who escaped the planet plus a number of space colonists who enlisted to fight against the Invid.
History[]
When the Robotech Expeditionary Force, who had become stranded in the Local Group of Fantoma, became aware that an Invid faction led by the Regess had invaded and conquered Earth in 2031 following the end the Second Robotech War, its leadership decided to send a part of the fleet built on the Local Group back to Earth to reclaim it. A small REF fleet arrived on the solar system and participated in the evacuation of the remnants of the Robotech Defense Forces stuck on Earth. The ERF would go on to build bases and outposts on Jupiter, Venus and Mars where pilots would be trained and new technologies tested. Space Station Liberty was used as a long-range communication outpost to maintain contact with the REF's leadership on the Local Group. The ERF would also restore Moon Base ALUCE, turning it into their forward outpost for the reclamation of Earth.
In 2038, the ERF would launch the first Reclamation force was composed almost exclusively of non-transformable starfighters and frigates, likely due to a low number of Alpha Fighter veritechs at the time. However, it would fail catastrophically with nearly the entire 10th Mars Division destroyed in Earth's orbit. Two known survivors of the fleet were Lance Belmont and Wolf Leader Jonathan Wolfe. Even with most of the fleet destroyed, a few ERF soldiers managed to land on Earth with some forming guerrilla groups in South and North America.
The Second Reclamation fleet would arrive in 2042. Unlike the first fleet, the second fleet was notably more prepared with more advanced starships and upgraded Alpha Fighters with a battleplan that focused on defeating the first two defensive waves of Invid fighters before attempting atmospheric entry into Earth. Unfortunately, a combination of impatience from the Division's commander, who wanted to begin atmosferic entry as soon as possible, and the unexpected arrival of two more waves of Invid fighters (one targeting the frigates and transport ships attempting entry into Earth and the other focusing on destroying the battleships) ended up destroying most of the Division, with only Lt. Commander Scott Bernard actually making it to Earth, who would go on to form the Robotech Rebels.
The destruction of the Second Reclamation fleet was a turning point for the REF, whose leadership were convinced that the Invid could only be destroyed with the full force of the REF fleet, unfortunately, the REF Civil War would delay their return by a whole year. Meanwhile, small teams of ERF fighters would be send to Earth to test new technologies against the Invid and for intelligence gathering. One of those teams was from the Jupiter Division which included Sue Graham, whose team was testing Shadow Technology against Invid sensors before they were wipeout by constant Invid attacks.
