General Frank Nichols was a member of the Robotech Defense Force and father of Louie Nichols.
In August of 2018, the Malcontent Uprisings had lead to the release of The Madness and Miriya got information on the plague to them. A meeting with Jonathan Wolfe, Max Sterling, Rolf Emerson and Frank Nichols occurred where Frank said the plague was based on an agent the Central African Union experimented on during the Global War. Rolf asked if there was any antidote but Frank reported there was none. As they didn't have the time to create an inoculation, Rolf said they needed a military solution but Frank thought it was ludicrous to throw an attack force at the Zentraedi Control Zone over 1 report. Max said he also dealt with the robot insects independently from Miriya but Frank suspected her of having other motives due to the seeming convenience of her getting the information. Max was angered at the accusation but Rolf backed up Max as Wolfe said the engineers told him there was no was to insulate Mecha against the insects. Rolfe begrudgingly considered bringing in the Army of the Southern Cross but Max was still sour from being quarantined by Leonard. Reports from Cavern City said there were no new infections in the last 24 hours and the insect robots were running out of power so the group decided to attack, although the decision was non unanimous as Frank objected with his view that it might be a trap (Robotech II: The Sentinels: The Malcontent Uprisings: War Crimes).
