The Garfish class was a type of light cruiser fielded by the Robotech Defense Force and the Robotech Expeditionary Force.
Operational History[]
The Garfish-class ships are one of the ship classes built on Tirol by the REF and the Karbarrans during the war against the Invid Regent in the Local Group of Fantoma.
Garfish-class ships were present during the Invid Invasion of Earth, with many of them being used to evacuate the remnants of the RDF. (Robotech: Love, Live, Alive)
Following the development of Shadow technology by the REF, many of these ships were equipped with Shadow devices to mask their protoculture power sources from detection by the Invid. At least some of these vessels were further equipped with a single synchro cannon, running down the center of the vessel that was completely concealed within the vessel. The hull had to be split along the leading edge to provide an opening for the weapon to be fired.
At least one from a Mars Division crashed on Earth, but, after being repaired, made a final suicide run against an Invid Broadcast Tower during the Third Robotech War. (Robotech: The New Generation: Ghost Town)
Another ship of this class from the same division, commanded by captain Olivia Stahl and protected by Yellow Squadron attacked Earth on 2038, crashing into a Invid Hive. Eventually, the ship was blown by a crewmember named Dimitry, destroying it along with the hive. (Robotech: Invasion Part 5)
Another Garfish, the Deukalion, was fitted as a science vessel. This saw the removal of the under-slung hanger bay, which was replaced with mission specific equipment. (Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles)

- Boarfish: Cargo variant, used by civilians and in non-combat theatres.
- Zebrafish: science variant, with added equipment.
