The Gura-Invid, or Monster Invid, was a group of mutated Invid that started at the Grand Cannon when it was turned into a Genesis Pit. The radiation at the site, coupled with the experimental nature of the Pit, resulted in the Gura Invid. The beings became fused with their mecha, and started to further mutate. The Regess allowed it to proceed.
Eventually, they started to breed. The Gura-Invid, having a hive mind, apparently formed into two separate Hives, led by the Vicereine and Viceroy, and divided society into Scouts, Hunters, Workers, and Warriors. They are more aggressive than the typical Invid. Their diet is that of an omnivore.
Due to their separation of the link from the Regess, they were left behind on Earth upon the departure of the race at the end of the Third Robotech War.
They used twisted versions of the Invid mecha, though the two Hive leaders have taken on the human-like persona (with grayish skin tone and black hair) of a looping image left on a screen, though when it is egg-alying time, they change into a bloated Warrior. The mecha include the Gura-Invid Scout, Gura-Invid Hunter, Gura-Invid Worker, and Gura-Invid Warrior.
They are named after the Gura, a crab-like predator on Optera that the Regess used to inspire the Invid armada.
