Izzy Randal was a friend and fellow pilot of Jack Archer.
Biography[]
First Robotech War[]
Izzy, Hiro Ishi, and Jack all attended the Robotech Academy together. While Jack and Hiro could be argued as the best pilots coming out of their graduating class, the same could not be said for Izzy. Although possessing adequate piloting skills, her easy going manner provided the glue to keep the group together often soothing the bruised egos of Jack or Hiro. She and Hiro were both on board the SDF-1 during her return voyage where she honed her fighting skills.
Izzy and Hiro would reunite with Jack when he came to attend the funeral of his dear friend Roy Fokker. As it so happened, this was precisely the same time Khyron would launch another attack on the SDF-1. Izzy and Jack defended the fortress until the Omni-Directional Barrier System, an experimental shield, overloaded and forced them to flee.
Izzy, Jack, and Hiro would all participate in the final battle against the Zentraedi in orbit. After the Zentraedi Bombardment, Izzy, Jack and Hiro were assigned to Base-6 where the group quickly renewed their prior friendship.

Zeraal Campaign[]
They would quickly become the first and last defenders against a new Zentraedi threat: Zeraal. While Izzy was familiar with the likes of the reasonable Breetai and the malicious Khyron due to her presence on the SDF-1, Zeraal was far more ambitious and dangerous. He lead a detachment of the Malcontents that would slowly grow into his own army. This would be the beginning of the Zeraal Campaign.
Under his command was the Zentraedi Ace Kiyora who had been defeated by Jack Archer at the end of the First Robotech War. Ordered to put an end to Archer, who had been interfering in Zeraal's plans, she killed multiple RDF scouts and drew Wolf Squadron to her location, namely Izzy and Jack. Unable to fight them both, Kiyora shot down Izzy, and pursued Jack as he attempted to save her. Izzy crashed in a flooded ruin and water began to fill her cockpit. Archer rescued her, but she was badly injured. Jack then fought off Kiyora.
Izzy was then confined to a hospital bed for a number of months. As a result, she was unable to ease problems between Jack and Hiro, who had turned on each other after Hiro tried to execute a crippled Zentraedi officer. She finally was able to mend their friendship when Hiro was trapped behind enemy lines. Just out of the hospital, she and Jack commandeered a Catseye Recon and went to Hiro's rescue, despite Commander Chase giving orders to the contrary. While under normal circumstances this would be reason for a court martial, Hiro's report and the lack of manpower at Base-6 saved both of their careers. She would be flying again by the end of the Zeraal Campaign, hunting down Reentry pods carrying Zeraal's retreating army as the RDF launched it's counterattack. (Robotech: Battlecry)
