The Malcontent Uprisings were a series of conflicts between humans and Zentraedi on Earth which began two years after the end of the First Robotech War. The major leaders of the Malcontent were Khyron, Azonia, and Zeraal.

History[]

Prelude[]

The settlement of the Zentraedi on Earth, along with surviving humans didn't happen without problems: the xenophobia of some humans, along with the aggressive and war-like nature of the aliens sabotaged the integration. Most of the Zentraedi weren't unable to adapt to a peaceful existence and took up arms, even against other Zentraedi.

The First Battles[]

Khyron and Azonia were focal points of the Zentraedi resistance, gathering an army than threatened the Robotech Defense Forces, but their campaign, hindered by integrationist Zentraedi, harvested more defeats than successes. Both died in a suicide attack against the SDF-1 in 2014, while Zeraal was killed in 2015 by Jack Archer around the orbit of Saturn.

Escalation[]

However, the Zentraedi leaders' death didn't stopp the attacks, only worsened them: without leaders, the Zentraedi fighters dissolved into dozens of different groups, each one with his own targets and combat philosophy, and the Robotech Expeditionary Force found itself trying to put down fires everywhere.

In 2014, at least three giant Zentraedi stole weapons in New Macross City, attempting to escape. The Veritech Wolf Squadron pursued them into a crater, attempting to capture them alive, but them were ambushed by two Zentraedi-captured Destroid Monsters. The Squadron was annihilated when Rick Hunter arrived in the experimental VF-4 Lightning and took down the rogue Destroids, allowing Wolf Squadron to capture the other rebels alive. (Robotech: From the Stars 0: Promises)

The most outstanding human leaders of the Uprising which fought in South America were Jonathan Wolfe and Max Sterling.(The Devils Hand (novel))

Aftermath[]

The Zentraedi uprisings were partly responsible for delaying the Pioneer Expedition until 2022. The xenophobic Southern Cross Army made sure to forbid integration of Aliens into its ranks, and except for some exceptions, like the half-Zentraedi Dana Sterling, Zentraedi were no longer seen on Earth. It appears than most joined the Expedition. (Robotech: Prelude to the Shadow Chronicles 2: Retribution)

Notes[]

The Uprising is only described in the novel The Zentraedi Rebellion, but the book isn't canonical. However, all what is explained there fully matches what is shown in the Macross Saga and the Sentinel comics.
