REF Moon Base Copernicus (Robotech RPG- Book 6- The Return of the Masters)

Moon Base Copernicus was a REF military installation for the Earth military forces on the moon.

It was kept hidden throughout the Invid Invasion of Earth and became home to thousands of Army of the Southern Cross and Robotech Expeditionary Force survivors. The base was a vast complex, which had a number of buildings on the surface. It had a spaceport and an airfield, which were separated from each other with some distance.

The vast majority of the complex was underground, and varied between six to eight levels in total, including the surface level. It's surface structures were fortified and/or armored, and therefore were able to withstand multi-kiloton blasts. Subterranean levels two to eight were pretty much immune to normal attacks. It would have taken weapons as powerful as the particle beams cannons on a Zentraedi warship to do any significant damage to the subterranean caverns. The complex had a complement of over 14,000 personnel. Which included the command staff, it's support personnel (administrative, medical, science, and technical), the pilots and ground troops.

Based at the complex was an arsenal consisting of REF, Southern Cross, and RDF mecha and vehicles. Which consisted of 342 Veritech fighters, 103 Destroids, 294 Battloids, and 1600 Cyclones. In addition the base had hundreds of conventional vehicles (including over 80 armored transports and mobile rocket launchers) and 48 combat ships (21 shuttles, 8 Garfish-class Light Cruisers, and 16 Horizon-T dropships).

The base was also defended by batteries of weapons systems. Which were hidden underground and when needed were raised to the surface via elevator-type systems. It had 18 high-powered, rapid-firing laser cannons, 12 medium range 30-pack missile launchers, and 10 long range 24-pack missile launchers. The laser cannons and medium-range missiles were in armored turrets, all three could rotate 360 degrees, the laser cannons could elevate 90 degrees, and the missile launchers could elevate 75 degrees.

Notes[]

It is not clear what relation it has to the canonical Moon Base ALUCE.

During the adventure in the book, which takes place during a resurgence of a hidden Masters enclave, the characters launch the last part of the mission from the base.

The book also includes full blueprints for the base.
