New Macross City was a city built on Earth following the Zentraedi attack that destroyed most of Human civilization on the planet in 2011. The city was built around a massive crater where the SDF-1 landed after the destruction of Dolza's fortress. The crater later become known as Lake Gloval.

Final battle of the First Robotech War[]
In 2014, the Battle of New Macross City resulted in the city being abandoned due to radiation fallout from the destruction of Khyron's Warship and the SDF-1 and 2. The buildings were demolished and the ruins used to cover the SDF-1, SDF-2 and Kyron's ship's remains to contain the radiation, creating three characteristic round mounds.
Eventually the lake dried up, and the area remained unpopulated. The SDF-1's remains were at the center of the Second Robotech War.
