The former homeworld of the Invid race. It is the fifth planet in the Tzuptum star system located in the local group Star cluster. It was devastated by the Robotech Masters. The Regess departed the planet to start the Invid Invasion of Earth when protoculture thrived there. The Regent continued to base his operations there until the end of his conflict with the Sentinels and Robotech Expeditionary Force.
History[]
Legend of Zor[]
Optera before devastated by the Robotech Masters, Optera was Paradise.
Originally, before Optera was devastated by the Robotech Masters, the Invid race lived as a peaceful primitive race of beings that lived on the planet Optera where they were guided by the intelligence of the Regess as well as lived in a symbiotic existence with the Flower of Life. At some point, the Tzuptum system was visited by Tirolians that consisted of the scientist Zor who was looking for new sources of energy for his people. Upon landing on the planet, he became fascinated by the nature of the planet - which it was Paradise, and as well as the discovery of the Flowers and the Invid. At night, he was telepathically called onto the surface by the Regess who believed him to be someone else who had visited her people long ago. Taking on a Humanoid form to please Zor, she entered into a telepathic communion with him where she shared her knowledge of the Flower of Life whilst she, in turn, learned of Zor's knowledge of Tirolian society. Afterward, Zor left the planet in order for he's discoveries to the Masters about the incredible beautiful world of Optera and along with the discovery of the primitive race of beings that lived on the planet and with the Flower of Life samples he had taken to experiment and used to develop not only Protoculture but the Protoculture Matrix.
Later during this time, the Regess evolved the entire people in his image: the slug-like Invid becoming bipedal in imitation of the Tirolians. In addition, the power of the Regess was split as a second male entity emerged that resembled a larger, more evolved Invid who became known as the Regent. Their new existence continued and the Invid civilization lived a peaceful existence in emulation of the Tirolians in this era through Regent stating that Zor was not the person who had visited there planet in the distant past, though the Regess disagreed. Afterward, Optera would once again be visited by Zor, but under the orders of the Robotech Masters and along with an army of Zentraedi to defoliation the entire planet and all its supply of the Flower of Life. During the harvest, many Invid died. The Regent and Regess ushered their children into their Invid Hive to shelter where the Regess telepathically caused pain in Zor for his betrayal. Zor, as a result, halted the harvesters and left only a small quantity number of Flowers of life on a once paradise world, to a devastated planet.

Aftermath, the Invid Regess abandoned the ravaged planet when the Flower of Life was discovered to be thriving on Earth.
Shadow Chronicles[]
However, the Invid Regent stubbornly continued to occupy Optera until his death in battle with the Robotech Expeditionary Force. The Regess would later ominously reveal that the Invid had previously fled another homeworld before Optera to escape the "Children of the Shadow."

The Waltrips did not complete the Sentinel comics but a timeline book featuring future events indicated that the survivors of Praxis would have been relocated to Optera. The planet now bereft of the Invid was renamed New Praxis by the Praxians.
