The Pakalla, was a pure Protoculture Universe created 10 000 Years before the Robotech Universe that stopped expanding 7 000 years ago and in 3000 The Robotech Universe would meet it in size and both will be destroyed. So its only sentient life formes, the Monte Yarrow, came to the Expanding Universe to escape it and 4 000 years ago, began recording all creatures encountered and preserve it as Protoculture copies before eliminating it. 4000 Years Ago the Monte Yarrow crossed the dimensional barrier to the Robotech universe and wiped out all life in the Andromeda Galaxy except the Gottruzello who were the Merchants of Pain. The Gottruzello wiped out 70% of the Monte Yarrow and drove 20% back to Pakalla, then went after them to their universe and closed the dimensional portal which stranded thousands of Monte Yarrow in the Robotech Universe, who then went dormant to await rescue.
