2nd can

This work is considered secondary-cannon. Although it has not yet been removed from the Robotech universe, it is still not considered Primary Canon. See Continuity and Canon in the Robotech Universe.

For the father of Rick Hunter, see Mitchell Hunter

"Pop" was the owner of a motorbike store where Mark Landry worked in 2027. (Robotech: The Movie)

Behind the scenes

Given that the original edit of Robotech: The Movie was going to feature Mark being the cousin of Rick Hunter, one could conject that "Pop" was almost certainly originally going to be Earl "Pop" Hunter, Rick's father in expanded media.

As the film was changed to be set during the Second Robotech War and not the First, this had great repercussions to the entire Robotech canon. Originally, for instance, B.D. Andrews and T.R. Edwards were meant to be one character (named T.R. Andrews), the same being true for Eve/Janice Em, Mark Landry/Jack Baker, and Becky Michaels/Karen Penn. As the film was now set after the events of Robotech II: The Sentinels, each character split into two completely different roles. Thus, "Pop" Hunter was revealed to be dead by 2009, while the version of Pop in the movie was still alive.
