"Robotech/Voltron" was a comic series crossing over Robotech and Voltron. the first Robotech comic series printed since 2007 and the first Voltron comic printed since 2008. It was the first serious Robotech crossover, although more comedic Ninja High School and Dinosaurs For Hire crossovers had previously been printed in the early issues of Robotech II: The Sentinels. A trade paperback was released in November 2015, with a brief epilogue being released to advertise this.
It was also notably the first and only Robotech comic published by Dynamite Entertainment, as the franchise was bought by Sony shortly after the series completed and thus a new direction was swiftly implemented. Dynamite Entertainment lost the rights at the start of 2016. This also makes Robotech/Voltron one of the only Robotech comics that will likely never be republished, as it is unlikely that another company will own the rights to both Voltron and Robotech at the same time. It is complications like this that led to the creative team going for an "alternate timeline" story, as the events of the series could essentially never be brought up again in any future media.

Two of the all-time greatest anime legends collide in one epic saga! The Lion Force team faces the return of a mysterious, ancient adversary that could jeopardize the very existence of Voltron itself. The repercussions threaten to reach across the fabric of time and space, all the way to Earth. How will Roy Fokker and the Skull Squadron cope with such a new menace, especially with the Zentraedi looming over Macross Island? What dark opportunities will Lotor, the would-be conqueror of planet Arus, pursue in a crisis like this?

Production[]
The series was conceived by the Voltron license holders, who contacted Harmony Gold. It was published by Dynamite Entertainment, in a special agreement. Tommy Yune used it to offer backstory for both Robotech and Voltron characters, such as Roy Fokker and Lotor. The scene with Rick Hunter and the White Lion was written to offer Hunter a chance to pilot one of the Lion Mecha, although they had all been placed at Macross Island. Yune suggested that it had been piloted by King Alfor. Bill Spangler wrote issues 3-5, but two pages of issue 3 were moved to issue 2, and he was given a writing credit for it.[1][2] [3]
