Robotech: Star Runners: Carpenter's Journey was an Academy Comics issue from John and Jason Waltrip. It tied into episode 47: "Outsiders".
Plot summary[]
Major John Carpenter and the crew of Recon One are preparing to leave the Valivarre system to return home to Earth when an energy net is activated, preventing them from leaving into Hyperspace. An Invid capture ship takes them to Station V-1. The commander Voxel captures the crew, but Carpenter and ambassador Trell come up with a plan to escape their captives. They fake a medical emergency after their torture, and aboard the ship, they overpower their guards and bring weapons back to the crew. Carpenter kills Voxel, and Trell uses a bio-computer link to force the Invid Brain controlling the station to initiate the self-destruct. The shock kills him, though, and the crew conducts a funeral as they prepare to leave.
