The Robotech Expeditionary Force was a Human organization whose mission was to reach out to the Robotech Masters in order to prevent threats to Earth. Departing after the Malcontent Uprisings, the REF arrived at Tirol, the Masters homeworld. However, they missed the Masters, who had already departed on their own mission to Earth to retrieve the Protoculture Matrix. The REF became embroiled in a conflict with the Invid, causing a delay on their return to Earth until after the end of the Third Robotech War.
The flagship was the SDF-3.
