Roland was the infant son of Raiza on planet Arus. When the Drule Empire arrived on Arus for a meeting with the king, Allura was reading Roland a story about Voltron as he lay in Raiza's arms. Coran arrived and informed Raiza of the Drule meeting and told her and Roland to escape with the staff in the passages to the outer towers. (Robotech/Voltron 2)
