The S-12 Avenger IIs were two-seat Robotech Defense Force attack craft which could carry a variety of munitions.
It was developed from the carrier-based A-12 Avenger anti-submarine plane, and were also made into the four-seater electronic warfare craft ES-12A Stalker.
The A-12 airframe saw a lot of action during the Global War, becoming feared among submarines crew.
In 1999, a Sub Hunter from the USS Kenosha was going to eliminate the Russian sub SSGN Minsk, but was destroyed by the shockwaves caused by the arrival of the SDF-1. (From the Stars: From the Stars)
After the Navy required a replacement for the EA-6B, the ES-12A Avenger was chosen until the VEF-1 came into active service.
The S-12 served until after the end of the First Robotech War.
The bomb bay could carry six tons, including bombs and depth charges. The wingtip hardpoints carry torpedoes or HARM-80 missiles. The ES-12 also carried two ECM pods.
