The SHC-08 Star Goose was an unarmed Robotech Defense Force space shuttle. It needed boosters to enter orbit. They were carried aboard RDF spacecraft, including the Oberth class destroyers and the SDF-1. (Macross Saga")
They were used early in the RDF period before the First Robotech War. One was sent up to the orbital station to board Armor-1. However, the warship was hijacked by AUL terrorists, and they fired on the shuttle, destroying it. ("From the Stars 5)
The crew of the doomed Mars Base Sara tried to use their shuttles with the callsigns Mars Goose One and Two to escape to the Oberth, but were all destroyed by the Zentraedi Destroyer. (Mars Base One Part Four)
Commander Lisa Hayes used a Star Goose later to travel back to Earth to try to convince the RDF command to intervene. (The Macross Saga: "Showdown")
According to one source, it was still in the experimental stage in June 2005. The Orion was undergoing testing when a thruster malfunctioned, causing a crash-landing in the sea near Macross Island. ("RTM 28".)
