The Sentinels was an alliance of individuals who were oppressed by the Invid. It started out as a group of prisoners who escaped Tesla and built the Farrago. They encountered the REF after the Earth forces liberated Tirol, and 1,000 REF members volunteered to join. Their first action was to destroy the Pursuer.
The Sentinels then departed to free the Local Group.
Eventually, they forced the Regent to retreat to Optera, and defeated him with the help of the Zentraedi. General Edwards then launched a civil war with the REF, but the Sentinels helped defeat him, just in time for Haydon to return.
