"Survival" is the 64th episode of Robotech TV series and the 4th episode of the third season.

Summary[]

Scott Bernard and his band of Robotech resistance fighters discover that Invid detects Protoculture-consuming devices without seeing them.

Plot[]

Scott Bernard and his newly-formed band of Robotech resistance fighters, have left Lancer and their new Veritech Alpha Fighter in a forest camp to bring supplies of food and Protoculture. On their way back, however, they come under heavy Invid fire and are forced to take cover in the forest far from their camp while losing all their supplies.

While hiding in the forest, a group of Invid Shocktroopers which were passing by suddenly detect their presence and attack them with suppressive fire. The entire team eludes successfully, owing to the Invid's extreme lack of firing accuracy.

Soon, Rand discovers how the Invid forces found them: Invid forces can detect Protoculture emanations of all devices that consume Protoculture, including but not limited to Robotech weapons and machines.

While returning to their camp, the team experiences difficulties that are caused by nature rather that the Invid: leeches, spiders and a grizzly Bear. The grizzly bear forces the team to use weapons. Consequently, both Lancer and an Invid Fighter flying in the vicinity discover their position. While Invid forces attack, Lancer arrives and helps Scott reach his Alpha Fighter.

Scott manages to exterminate all Invid assailants with his Alpha Fighter. However, doing so leaves the party in desperate need of Protoculture.

  • Lunk: "My toothbrush!"
Scott: " So all your teeth fall out. It's better than having your head blown off!"
  • Rand: "Hay! Besides your looks, what have you contributed?"
Rook: "Ok, that does it big mouth. Lets you and me step aside and settle this thing once and for all. Come on!"
Rand: "You sure you don't wanna just get me alone in the bushes?"
  • Rook: "I don't remember you becoming a friend of mine."
Scott: "Ok. That's fine with me. I don't care."
  • Rook: "I hate to break this to you Daniel Boone, but there's a new thing called civilization, or haven't you heard?"
Rand: "Yeah, I've heard of it. That's where they have crime, traffic jams and garbage that's never picked up."
