Should we add a Timeline to this page, or as a separate entry? Seems to be a big deal among the fans ;-) Of course, we'd have to adhere to the updated continuity, which leaves a lot of events open to the question, but it seems like the updated timeline in the beginning of The Art of Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles can at least arrange some of the events of the rest of the series. āPreceding unsigned comment added by Neuronphaser (talk ā¢ contribs)
- No, this page basically depicts our policies. Timeline pages are a tiinesy bit of a bother, because they take a lot of speculation to make. Then there's the issue of if we should include only primary sources there, or also throw in some secondary sources with the Primary sources, or even list all secondary and primary sources in another grouping... I just don't know how we'd to it. If you could make it good in a sandbox tho, I would be fine with us trying to make the page! :) OS25 (talk to me, baby.) 23:35, October 17, 2015 (UTC)
- That makes sense to me! I'll see if I can think of a few ways to do it and we can discuss in the forums before moving ahead with anything.--Neuronphaser (talk) 23:57, October 17, 2015 (UTC)
Secondary canon[]
"We often try to allow the reader to justify the validity..." We do? I know we just had that whole discussion over on the forums, but HG's policy is very cut and dry, either it is or it isn't canon. And I disagree that Robotech: Academy would automatically override some of the history. It's a bit speculatory to say that about something that we know nothing about. - It's not that clear tho. If anything, as the in-depth explanation at the start explained, the rule of thumb is "it's not canon or non-canon until we say so." Most stories and narratives we will never have a "yes" or a "no" on, and thus float in the sphere of "not being not-canon but not being primary canon." Secondary Canon is this "grey" area.
- Perhaps asserting that Academy would over-write the other Sentinels works is slight speculation. Let's say a literal adaptation of the original Sentinels episodes then -- that would force the comic version of the events out of the "grey" area of continuity and into the over written stuff of the novels and Return to Macross.
