First Robotech War[]
On the launch day of the SDF-1, he was standing on a sidewalk on Macross City, Macross Island, with his friend. A limousine rushed past them with Captain Gloval and Senator Russo inside. He said the "big-shots" were making a grand entrance whereas his friend commented on Captain Gloval's unhappy appearance. (Macross Saga: "Boobytrap")
He was present in Lynn Minmei's neighborhood when Rick Hunter crashed his VF-1D there, when it stood up, he and his friends believed it was an alien robot. (Macross Saga: "Countdown")
Tommy Luan is amoung those who find Rick Hunter and Lynn Minmei within the SDF-1. (Macross Saga: "The Long Wait")
He and his city later relocated inside the SDF-1. He and his colleague discovered Rick and Minmei who had been trapped inside the SDF-1.(Macross Saga: "The Long Wait")
