The United States Navy (USN) was the blue-water force of the United States of America. Throughout the latter half of the 20th century, the US Navy was the most potent naval force on Earth.
In 1999, the US Navy dispatched the USS Kenosha and her Carrier battle group, under the command of Admiral Donald Hayes, to investigate claims of the Russians selling one of their Oscar-class Submarines.
The USN operated a range of ships and Aircraft. Their fleet comprised of number Aircraft carriers, Cruisers, Frigates and Destroyers as well as a flotilla of support vessels. The USN also had an air wing that comprised of airplanes and Helicopters designed to fulfill a range of requirements from combat air patrol, precision strikes, anti-submarine activities, transportation and search and rescue.
