The VA-1 Thunderstrike was a first-generation, 2-mode Veritech designed before the First Robotech War. The Southern Cross resurrected it where it served during the Malcontent Uprisings but removed it from service as it was outdated, although many were kept in reserve. Some separatist groups also use them.
It was limited to atmospheric use, with a speed of 680 kph, and a Battloid walking speed of 300 kph. It was armed with 2 GU-10 gun pods, tactical missiles, and a pair of tail-mounted laser turrets.
