Vanessa Leeds was a RDF bridge officer stationed aboard the SDF-1 during the First Robotech War. She, along with Kim and Sammie, formed an invaluable trio of bridge operators that control and monitor the SDF-1’s systems. As the surveillance officer of the SDF-1, Vanessa monitored the ship’s radar and positioning systems.
Biography[]
After her parents died in the Exclusionist Plague in 1995, she and her brother Rob were sent to an orphanage in San Francisco. Dr. Conrad Wilbur was on the board of directors there and his wife wanted to adopt them, but she died in the Macross Incident. After that, Dr. Wilbur quit his practice and moved to Macross Island with them. As Rob joined The Faithful, Vanessa did not agree with them and the 2 grew apart. By 2005 Vanessa was in the Robotech Academy and Rob was a Mechanic in the RDF but was secretly working for The Faithful. After Rob was shot and in a coma, Vanessa was not told how it happened but knew they kept a guard in his hospital room. Vanessa had used Dr. Wilbur as a reference for Joining the Academy but after Rob's incident, the RDF grew suspicious of her. Claudia stood up for her when RDF Investigators came to question her in the Flyer Diner and Vanessa felt glas as it was like she found a place she belonged. (Robotech: Academy Blues: "Roles")
