Dana Sterling being Programmed with the Zentraedi Directives.(Robotech Masters: Rolling Thunder)
The Zentraedi Directives were a series of laws programmed into the Zentraedi by the Robotech Masters as a means of controlling them. the directives are "A Zentraedi can not harm a Master. A Zentraedi can not allow a Master to come to harm and A Zentraedi must obey a Master unless its orders conflict with the 1st 2 orders. A clever follower can use these to gain some semblance of freedom such as when Dana Sterling refused Hikaru's orders to fight her friends under the guise of protecting her from harm. They can even be applied to hybrids as long as they have at least 25% Zentraedi DNA. Being programs of these orders does not strip the subject of their consciousness but their body moves on its own in accordance with their orders. The directives can also be altered as when Dalmeric Khane had one of them Deleted to make Dana a better fighter. The directives can also be broken through strong emotion such as when Dana thought she had killed Angelo Dante and was enraged enough to take out Khane. (Robotech Masters: Rolling Thunder)
